Emergency & Urgently Needed Services
What happens in case of an emergency?
A medical emergency is defined as a sudden, unexpected onset of a medical condition manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity such that the absence of immediate medical attention could reasonably result in any of the following:
- Placing the patient's health in serious jeopardy
- Serious impairment to bodily functions
- Serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part
What do I do if I am unable to get an appointment with my Primary Care Provider?
If a patient is injured or suddenly becomes ill, when medically possible, he or she should call his or her PCP for instructions for obtaining emergency services, regardless of the time of day. Your PCP or his/her designee is on-call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As appropriate, care will be provided, arranged or authorized by your Primary Care Provider. If you are unable to get an appointment, and your medical condition is not an emergency but does require prompt medical attention, you may utilize one of the Urgent Care or Immediate Care Centers listed below.
What about out of area emergencies?
If you or a member of your family are out of town, or more than 30 miles from your residence and require emergency medical attention, please seek care at the nearest hospital's emergency room. Please notify Desert Oasis Healthcare within 48 hours to report the emergency visit. Follow-up care must be provided by your Primary Care Provider.
· Important: The use of an emergency room for non-emergency care may not be covered. Services which are not covered may be your financial responsibility.
