Dedicated to Improving the Patient Experience

Desert Oasis Healthcare is part of Points of Light award-winning team

(June 1, 2023 – Palm Springs, CA)
– An estimated $250 billion is wasted annually in avoidable healthcare administrative costs. Rather than resigning itself to a lengthy process of managing authorizations, denials, and claims disputes, Desert Oasis Healthcare (DOHC) partnered with health plan Health Net and software vendor FinThrive to find a solution.

When presenting their 2023 Best in KLAS case study at the annual K2 Summit May 8-10 in Salt Lake City, the team was recognized with a 2023 Points of Light award. Recognition celebrates success stories – or points of light – from payers, providers, and healthcare technology companies that work collaboratively to align care delivery with health plan sponsor initiatives to reduce costs and inefficiencies, and improve the patient experience.

Entitled “Improving Payer Access to Timely, Accurate Patient-Encounter Data”, the solution presented by DOHC and its two partners was judged as having “High Application to Other Organizations and Partnerships.” Recognizing the lack of access to timely, accurate patient-encounter data as a primary point-of-friction, the three partners developed an action plan that improved timeliness of data submissions to regulators, while reducing administrative tasks and error rates. FinThrive, a national healthcare revenue management technology company, is currently researching application of the case study’s solutions to other states beyond California.

“I was thrilled to be a part of this team because I believe innovative partnerships like these have the potential to revolutionize healthcare processes and outcomes,” said Ryan Cheley, Regional Director of Business Informatics at Desert Oasis Healthcare. “This award for our collaboration recognizes DOHC’s dedication to innovate behind-the-scenes to offer smoother healthcare delivery, while containing costs, for the 60,000 patients we are dedicated to serving every day.”
