New Respiratory Module for Asthma
Desert Oasis Healthcare identifies 200 candidate patients
(March 21, 2023 – Palm Springs, CA) – In response to the growing prevalence and costs of respiratory diseases, Desert Oasis Healthcare (DOHC) has introduced the new Respiratory Module from Rimidi. The Module is a unique collaboration between Rimidi and Teva Pharmaceuticals Digihaler family of digital inhalers, allowing for efficient management of asthma.
“Rimidi has been an important partner to DOHC for the last eight years, as we seek to bring the best medication management services to our patients through their care teams,” said Lindsey Valenzuela, PharmD and Associate Vice President of Population Health Integration at DOHC. “Rimidi’s Respiratory Module, combined with Teva’s Digihalers, has helped us quickly identify and assess patients’ levels of asthma control.”
Asthma and COPD are lung diseases, each causing swelling in the airways that make it hard to breathe. More than 34 million Americans live with a chronic lung disease, and approximately 25 million people in the U.S. currently have asthma. Understanding more about a patient’s level of asthma control can help identify avoidable complications and an appropriate treatment.
“With asthma, symptoms tend to come and go, and you may be symptom-free for extended periods of time,” says Tom Brazeal, PharmD, and Manager of Technology and Outcome, Medication Management at DOHC. “Although similar in some ways to asthma, COPD may develop into chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or both. While COPD tends to get worse over time, catching it early and providing appropriate care can help many people stay active and slow the disease.” Visit the website to learn more about respiratory care programs at DOHC.
