New to Medicare
Desert Oasis Healthcare has made a free, no-obligation, service available to residents of the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin that may be considering enrolling in Medicare this year.
Desert Oasis Healthcare wants to try to help find Medicare insurance plans that cover your doctors and any prescription drugs you take, if you decide to transition into Medicare this year.
We have partnered with eHealth to provide you with a customized (non-government) website where you can compare plans online, including plans that may cover your doctors and prescriptions.
eHealth is also a licensed insurance agency, which means they can provide you with free, no-obligation review of your Medicare coverage plan options online, or over the phone. They can also help you enroll, if needed, for free.
You can call eHealth’s Helpline
(844) 980-2134 (TTY 711)
Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PDT
You will speak to a licensed insurance agent.
The non-government website eHealth built for us is online:
Go to eHealthMedicare.com/myDOHC
eHealth’s licensed insurance agents can help you review affordable Medicare plans in this area.
We encourage you to ask the eHealth licensed agent questions like:
- Will the co-pays for any of my prescription drugs change in 2021?
- Is it possible to get dental, vision and prescription drug coverage for no additional cost, regardless of my income?
- Can I save money on deductibles, co-pays or co-insurance when I visit my doctor in 2021?
We hope you take advantage of this free service.
P.S.: This is a zero-cost service Desert Oasis Healthcare provides to residents of the Coachella Valley and Morongo Basin. This letter is intended to give you the opportunity to compare the prices, benefits and value offered by different Medicare insurance plans accepted by Desert Oasis Healthcare. You can call eHealth at (855) 968-1286 (TTY 711). Monday - Friday from 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST or go online to eHealthMedicare.com/myDOHC
eHealthMedicare.com is a non-government website operated by eHealthInsurance Services, Inc., a licensed health insurance agency that sells Medicare products and does business as eHealth. eHealthMedicare.com and eHealth are not affiliated or connected with Medicare or any other government program or agency. eHealth offers plans from a number of insurance companies. Understanding how Medicare works and transitioning to new medical coverage can seem confusing and overwhelming. We're here to make it easier.
Desert Oasis Healthcare (DOHC) offers free one-hour seminars for people who are new to Medicare. These seminars will give you an overview of how Medicare works, the different parts of Medicare, and how to access your benefits.
Who is eligible for Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program that serves people ages 65 and older or people with qualifying disabilities. To qualify for Medicare, you must be a legal resident living in the United States for at least five consecutive years and meet one of the following requirements
- Age 65 or older
- Younger than 65 with a qualifying disability
If you plan to continue working past 65
If you are still employed and will continue to work past the age of 65, it is important to look at the cost and benefits of your employer-based insurance plan and compare them to the cost and benefits of enrolling in Medicare.
