Manny Tovar is both an immigrant success story and an official “9/11 hero” who received a medal for his actions during the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11, 2001. After moving to the U.S. from Peru with his family at the age of 11, Manny began to develop an interest in medicine and service that would take him to that fateful day in American history and beyond to where he is today, working with Dr. Louis Flores in Indio.
Manny’s career in the medical field began as a teenager, working for the Emergency Medical Services of the Fire Department of New York City (FDNY.) After working as a driver and assistant to a paramedic, he was accepted into the FDNY Medical Emergency Division Academy, studying Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine. Becoming an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT,) Manny started work as a paramedic in NYC and was accepted into the Pre-Med Program at New York State University.
Retiring from FDNY in 2007, Manny moved his family to Los Angeles in support of his daughter’s educational pursuits. The move prompted him to further his own education and he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science as a Physician Assistant. Since July of 2011, Manny has been a Physician Associate and in July 2022, opened California Senior Care Clinic, working along with Dr. Flores to care for the wellbeing of the Senior community by providing preventive medical care.
Manny’s philosophy of care emphasizes patient education, work he finds deeply rewarding and fulfilling.
