February is all about #OurHearts
February is Heart Month, so in this issue we’ve included a link to our Heart Care page under the Care & Treatment section of our website. On that page, you'll find information about signs of a heart attack, heart conditions, heart disease care, the Treatment & Services that DOHC offers, and much more.
“Life is Why” We Partner with the American Heart Association (AHA)
The American Heart Association (AHA) has recognized Desert Oasis Healthcare for once again achieving Silver Level recognition in their 2019 Workplace Health Achievement Index. We’re proud that we’ve built a culture of health for our employees, as well as for our patients. Just like our patients, our employees are each on a personal journey for their best Heart Health.
Many of them have already taken the pledge to “Know Your Numbers” – by talking to their healthcare provider and learning their Blood Pressure, Cholesterol, Blood Sugar, and Body Mass Index (or BMI) numbers. If YOU are trying to make some heart-healthy changes in your life, you might want to consider Check. Change. Control. for tracking your Blood Pressure.
Desert Oasis Healthcare is proud to support the good work of the AHA year-round by being at dozens of community events throughout the Coachella Valley and the Hi Desert to perform health screenings and provide education. In addition, our employees show up in a BIG way to show support of their awareness and fundraising events like the 2019 Coachella Valley Heart Walk in November.
To mark Heart Month, in February the AHA key event is Go Red for Women. While 80% of cardiovascular disease can be prevented – with simple changes like a better diet and daily exercise – 1 in 3 women die of some cardiovascular disease. That’s more than deaths from all forms of cancer combined.
Heart disease is the #1 cause of death for both women and men in the U.S. That’s why Desert Oasis Healthcare remains committed to its “Life is Why” partnership with the AHA.
